University of Economics – Varna Launches The First BIP “Sustainability Challenge” Programme ...

On 26 October 2026, the University of Economics – Varna launched its first Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) for the 2026/2027 academic year, organized by the International Relations Office. As part of the Erasmus+ programme, BIP “Sustainability Challenge” focuses on sustainable development, innovation and the search for practical solutions to today’s global challenges.

During the week from 26 to 30 October 2026, the programme brings together 20 students from five partner countries - Bulgaria, Poland, Belgium, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. Through collaborative learning activities and interactive sessions, participants have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of sustainability, exchange ideas and good practices, and strengthen their ability to work in an international environment.

The programme was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Radan Miryanov - Vice-Rector for International Relations and Partnerships, Chief Assist. Prof. Dr. Petar Petrov - UEVA Coordinator, and Dr. Slavena Tsoneva - Head of the International Relations Office. They highlighted the value of such initiatives in creating opportunities for collaborative learning, sharing experiences and building partnerships among students and universities across Europe.

At the end of the first day, participants gathered for a traditional Bulgarian dinner, where they had the chance to taste some of the country’s traditional dishes. A special highlight of the evening was a folklore performance by the ensemble “Bulgarka”, which brought Bulgarian folklore to life through traditional music and dance. The evening concluded with a traditional Bulgarian horo dance, with international guests enthusiastically joining in.

Over the following days, the students will work in teams on practical tasks and projects aimed at developing ideas for a more sustainable future. Alongside gaining new knowledge and practical skills, they will have the opportunity to connect with fellow students from across Europe, exchange experiences and build lasting friendships.

With the second edition of “Experience the UEVA Sustainability Challenge”, the University of Economics – Varna continues to strengthen its commitment to international academic cooperation and education that addresses the challenges shaping our world today. The programme provides a space for sharing ideas, building international connections and working together to develop solutions that can contribute to a more sustainable future.
