Application procedure

  1. The candidate sends scanned copies of the documents to UE-Varna International Relations Office, Foreign Students Division at foreign_students@ue-varna.bg for prior examination. All pages including stamps must be scanned.
  2. The Foreign Students Division examines the documents and contacts the candidate.
  3. Upon approval by the Foreign Students Division, the candidate has to submit the Secondary School Certificate and the supplement with legalized translation  to a Regional Department of Education in any of Bulgarian big cities. The Department of Education reviews the documents and issues a Certificate of recognition of Secondary School Diploma. The review period takes from two weeks up to a month.
  4. Once the Regional Department of Education has issued the Certificate of recognition of Secondary School Diploma, the candidate has to go and take it in person from there and may apply at University of Economics – Varna.

  5. The candidate sends by post or by courier or brings the entire package of the original documents and the Certificate of recognition to:

6. Foreign Students Division uploads the applicant’s documents to the platform of Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science for review and approval. 

6.1. Upon approval, the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science issues a Certificate necessary for visa D application.

6.2. In case the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science needs additional documents or endorsements, it sends a notice back to UE-Varna in which it explains the reasons for not issuing the certificate. The Foreign Students Division notifies the applicant who may amend his/her application documents and re-submit them for review after the application deadline.

7. After receiving an approval by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science, the Foreign Students Division issues and signs a certificate which states that the applicant has been accepted for studies in the chosen major at UE-Varna.

         8. The Foreign Students Division sends the candidate the original documents necessary for visa D application:

  • A certificate issued by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science;
  • A certificate issued by the Foreign Students Division at UE-Varna.

9. The applicant personally files his/her application for visa D in the diplomatic or consular missions of the Republic of Bulgaria in his/her own country of birth.

10. The applicant must pay the tuition fee for the first semester of his/her studies by sending the payment amount to the following bank account:

Studies subsidized by the Bulgarian government

  1. The candidate sends scanned documents of the application documents to the International Relations Office, Foreign Students Division at foreign_students@ue-varna.bg for prior examination. All pages including stamps must be scanned.
  2. The Foreign Students Division examines the documents and contacts the candidate.
  3. Upon approval by the Foreign Students Division, the candidate sends the entire package of the original documents by post to:

  1. Foreign Students Division forwards the applicant’s documents to the Regional Inspectorate of Education. The Inspectorate of Education reviews the documents and issues a certificate of recognition of Secondary School Diploma. The review period takes from two weeks up to a month.
  2. Once the Regional Inspectorate of Education has issued the certificate of recognition of Secondary School Diploma, the Foreign Students Division informs the candidate and he/she should receive it in person at the office of the Regional Inspectorate of Education. The applicant can then proceed with his/her application at the university.
  3. In order to take part in the selection procedure for studies subsidized by the Bulgarian government the applicant must have finished the application procedure by the end of June.
  4. The results from the selection procedure are published at the end of July. If the applicant was selected for a chosen programme he/she must pay the tuition fee for the first semester of his/her studies by sending the payment amount to the following bank account:

Paid Studies

The applicant follows the same procedure as for studies subsidized by the Bulgarian government but he/she doesn't take part in a selection procedure and he/she can directly choose at which programme to be enrolled. The deadline for applications for paid studies is the end of October each year.
