Graduation

Information for all UE – Varna master degree graduates on their State Examination.

Art. 119. (1) Students who have passed all their exams as per their degree programme curriculum are allowed to take their state examination.

(2) (Amendment – ​​UE – Varna General Assembly, 15.11.2024) Students shall take their state examinations in two scheduled consecutive sessions.

(3) The UE – Varna Academic Council plans the state examination schedule.

(4) (Amendment – UE – Varna ​​General Assembly, 15.11.2024) Students allowed to take their state exam shall to take it in two consecutive sessions.

(5) The regular session is in June, and the resit session is in January. For students in professional bachelor degree programmes, the regular session is in May, and the resit session is in February. The Rector shall decide on special cases upon a Dean’s proposal.

(6) (Amendment – UE – Varna General Assembly, 27.06.2013, amendment and supplement - General Assembly, 10.11.2022, amendment - General Assembly, 15.11.2024). Students who have either skipped or failed their state exam in the scheduled sessions shall be re-admitted to the next two consecutive sessions.

(7) (New – UE – Varna General Assembly, 27.06.2013, amendment and supplement - General Assembly, 10.11.2022, amendment - General Assembly, 15.11.2024) In the event of a skipped or failed state exam, in accordance with para. 5 and para. 6, students shall be suspended for a year, starting from the latest opportunity to take a state exam.

(8) (New – UE – Varna General Assembly, 10.11.2022, amended and supplemented – General Assembly, 15.11.2024) Students suspended under para. 7 shall be reinstated out in accordance with the procedure set out in art. 113, para. 6, para. 7 and para. 8. These students shall be admitted only to two more consecutive state examination sessions provided that they have passed all their exams as per their degree programme curriculum.

The changes shall come into force on the date of adoption by UE – Varna General Assembly 15.11.2024.

June 2026 Master Degree State Examination Admission Documents
(3, 4 and 5 June 2026)

Master Degree students who have passed all their previous exams and who will either defend a thesis or take a state exam in June 2026 must submit the following documents:

1. with their degree programme Academic Studies admin officer at their methodological office:

- A master degree student application form for state examination admission, available at the University Bookshop;
- A University Library form, available at the University Bookshop, to be filled in by a UE – Varna librarian.
- A B5 envelope with exact address of residence for the university diploma to be sent to;
- Two 3.5/4.5 cm photos with the graduate student’s names, faculty number, degree programme on the back;
- Declaration of Thesis Authenticity, signed by the master degree student upon submission of the thesis within the department deadlines.

2. with the Graduate Office, room No 114, 1 st floor

- An application form for admission to a state examination session, certified by the degree programme admin officer;
- ID card;
- Students who will retake their state exam in two new consecutive sessions shall submit an admission application form to the University of Economics – Varna Rector. Students who have already submitted the necessary documents to their degree programme admin officer need only to complete a new application form for admission to a state examination session. Once signed by the degree programme admin officer, the application is submitted to the Graduate Office.

Students who intend to sit a state examination or defend their thesis need to return all books borrowed from the University Library before submitting any documents. Students with outstanding dormitory payments are not allowed to take their state exam.

Students may submit their applications for a state examination/thesis defence in the Graduate Office on 3, 4 and 5 June 2026.

Departments will notify students of exam rooms two days prior to the scheduled date in the Graduation Menu
