The Department of Economics and Management of Construction was established in 1953. The first Head of Department was Assoc. Prof. Gancho Radev (1953 – 1956), followed by Assoc. Prof. Nediu Karabashev (1956 – 1966), Prof. Stanislav Hadzhiev, PhD, (1966 – 1975), Prof. Georgi Dimitrov, PhD (1975 – 1992), Assoc.Prof. Geno Genov, PhD (1992 – 2000; 2003 – 2005), Assoc. Prof. Ivan Zhelev, PhD (2000 – 2003), Prof. Plamen Iliev, PhD (2005-2019); Assoc. Prof. Bozhidar Chaparov, PhD, (2019 – 2020), Assoc. Prof. Todor Raychev, PhD, has been Head of Department since Sep 2020.
There are three professors and five associate professors in this department. All faculty members hold postgraduate degrees.
The Department of Economics and Management of Construction administers and successfully manages student training in these degree programmes: BSc Entrepreneurship and Investment Management, BSC Real Estate and Investment, BSc Business Economics, BSc Construction Business and Entrepreneurship, MSc Civil Engineering Entrepreneurship and Real Estate, and MSc Project Management.
The Department of Economics and Management of Construction aims at training professionals who recognise national and international business practices, acknowledge the norms of economic development, and understand the organization, management, financing, accounting and analysis of economic activity.
As members of faculty constantly develop professionally and do prominent research, the department is ready to meet the new challenges in the context of the united European educational environment.
