Formal Gathering to Mark the 100-year Anniversary of the University of Economics – Varna

A formal gathering to celebrate the University of Economics – Varna centenary was held on 1 Oct 2020.  The event was attended by a number of distinguished guests, diplomatic representatives, central and local government officials, judges, HEI rectors, partners and friends of UE – Varna, members of faculty, admin officers and students, such as: Tania Mihailova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science; Stoyan Passev, Varna’s Regional Governor; Levon Hampartzoumian, Doctor honoris causa from the University of Economics – Varna, Kubrat Pulev, a contender for the World Heavyweight Professional Boxing Championship, among others.

The University of Economics – Varna received the Badge of Honour of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, to mark the 100-year anniversary of the University ‘for exceptional achievements in training personnel in economics and the University’s contribution to enhancing the quality of higher economics education in Bulgaria.’

Prof. Evgeni Stanimirov, UE – Varna Rector, gave a formal address.

History indicates that over the years this country’s educational environment has been impacted on by a number of positive and negative factors, yet this University has withstood the test of time and it has been developing to become a primary pillar of economics training in Bulgaria.
The University of Economics – Varna has helped thousands of its alumni launch their careers, including ministers (of finance, of education) and deputy ministers; National Bank governors; ambassadors, attachés, honorary consuls, senior executives and many other professionals (in economics, management, tourism, and IT)…
Professional training is undoubtedly a result of the commitment of generations of talented professors and the hard work of a multitude of admin officers, all dedicating their energy and investing their effort, intellect and time in training professionals who share expertise, creativity and flexibility. This legacy calls for our gratitude, respect and appreciation of our predecessors’ achievements, and it instills in us a deep sense of responsibility to our communities. It is a great privilege and pleasure to celebrate this day together!
