The Department of Marketing is the first specialized academic unit in Bulgaria dedicated to the theoretical and applied aspects of marketing. Established on June 17, 1997, it quickly became one of the most dynamic and rapidly developing departments both at the University of Economics – Varna and nationwide. In 2027, the Department will celebrate its 30th anniversary.
The Department administers three Bachelor’s degree programs – Marketing, Digital Media and PR, and International Business (taught in English), as well as three Master’s programs – Sales Management and Merchandising, Advertising and Media Communications, and Marketing and Brand Management. All Master’s programs are also offered in distance-learning format, making them accessible to working students and aligned with contemporary trends in the education market. The Department also trains doctoral candidates in the “Marketing” PhD program and actively supports them throughout the process of obtaining the educational and scientific degree “Doctor.”
The faculty is distinguished by active research activities and strong partnerships with the industry. The academic achievements and international recognition of the department’s members demonstrate a high level of professionalism and a significant contribution to the development of marketing as a discipline. Faculty members publish annually in national and international journals, participate in editorial boards and professional associations, and lead or consult on projects funded by European operational programs, local institutions, and the private sector.
