The Research Institute in the structure of University of Economics - Varna was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria on October 21 2015 with the mission to carry out long-term research in the priority research areas of the university. The Research Institute brings together the existing research centers of UE-Varna into one structure:
Research and Application of New Information and Communication Technologies Center (RANICTC)
Centre for Social Research
Centre for Globalization and Foreign Direct Investments
Innovation and Development Centre
Centre for Financial Research and Development
Centre for Quality of Goods and Consumer Protection
Strategic objectives of the Institute encompass directing research to important economic and social issues, strengthening the cooperation between UE-Varna and businesses, encouraging the participation of UE-Varna faculty in national and international scientific programmes and projects.
One of the leading priorities of the Research Institute is regional economy development. Therefore, the Institute seeks to develop close relations and cooperation with local authorities, businesses, other research centers, non-profit organizations and other relevant institutions in the region of Varna.
By creating the Research Institute, UE-Varna meets the challenges of the dynamically changing socio-economic environment and provides an answer to key legislative documents such as the National Strategy for the Development of Higher Education in Bulgaria 2014-2020, the National Strategy for the Development of Scientific Research 2020, the Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization of Bulgaria 2014-2020, and others.
