PhD Students from UE – Varna Impress an International Jury in Belgrade with Their Environmentally-Friendly Ideas

PhD students, participating in the Competition for Sustainable and Environmentally-Friendly Ideas, had their projects assessed and awarded by an international jury in Belgrade last week.

Five PhD students from the University of Economics – Varna, divided into two teams, developed their innovative ideas on how to make the university environment more sustainable and eco-friendly.

Rosalina Rouseva and Hristina Georgieva impressed the jury with their project RE-THINK and were awarded the first place. They will receive a grant from the Erasmus+ programme to fund the realisation of their idea. The University of Economics – Varna also presented a special award to Galina Yordanova, Kosyo Vladimirov and Evgeni Raychev’s Smart Water Spot idea.

Organised by the University of Economics – Varna and in partnership with the Faculty of Business Economics and Entrepreneurship in Belgrade, Serbia, the Competition addresses the key priorities of the EU and Erasmus+ programme, related to sustainability and tackling environmental issues as well as the climate change, especially the management of natural resources and the reduction of energy use and waste.

The PhD students’ ideas will go a long way in transforming the University into a sustainable and more inclusive environment.

The meeting in Belgrade also gave UE – Varna the chance to present our opportunities for Erasmus+ mobility to the staff and students at the Faculty of Business Economics and Entrepreneurship.
