On 20 February 2026, the University of Economics – Varna organized a festive and memorable Bulgarian Evening to warmly welcome the incoming exchange students for the summer semester 2025/2026. The event was specially designed to introduce the international students to their home for the next several months and to immerse them in the spirit, traditions, and flavors of Bulgaria from the very first days of their stay.
The evening began with one of the most cherished Bulgarian customs – the traditional welcoming ritual with bread, honey, and salt. The students had the opportunity to explore the richness of Bulgarian cuisine by tasting some of the country’s most beloved national dishes.
The students also took part in an engaging presentation dedicated to Bulgarian folklore, customs, and traditional dances, and even created their own “Martenitsa”. The evening continued with a dynamic quiz, where teams competed enthusiastically and the winners received special prizes. While the results were being counted, the students enjoyed a captivating live performance of a traditional Bulgarian song.
The highlight of the evening was a live folklore performance by ensemble “Bulgarka”, which brought the beauty of Bulgarian musical heritage to life. The performance created a truly authentic atmosphere and offered the students a first-hand encounter with the rhythms and spirit of traditional Bulgarian folklore music and dances.
The evening concluded with an energetic dance session, during which students enthusiastically joined in learning traditional Bulgarian “Pravo horo”
The Bulgarian Evening once again proved to be more than just an event – it was a celebration of intercultural friendship, openness, and the start of an exciting academic journey in University of Economics-Varna.
